Position Overview

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Design Technician to join our team. As a key member of our municipal design team, you will be responsible for creating complex designs and drafting projects using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D software.

Your projects will involve designing roads, sidewalks, multi-use paths, roundabouts, water and sanitation mains, and storm drainage systems featuring green infrastructure. You will provide detailed information to field crews and the public, as well as produce and file record drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and draft complex municipal projects using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D software
  • Provide detailed information to field crews and the public
  • Produce and file record drawings
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure project completion
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Completion of a two-year Computer Aided Design and Drafting program or a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum three years' experience in municipal design using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D software
  • Ability to acquire certification as a Civil Technologist (AScT) or a Civil Technician (CTech) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia within 12 months
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence
