About the Role

The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for assisting, maintaining, and developing product categories assigned to them. The person will gather and analyze information for merchandising plans, improve product offerings, prepare various reports, and maintain relationships with suppliers. The role is to ensure that product integrity, quality, and target price are maintained, and products are developed on time and delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new opportunities, such as new products presented by key suppliers, source from other retailers, analyze the market to identify sales opportunities and maximize trends;
  • Draw inspiration from products, create, build, and manage the production process;
  • Maintain and analyze product categories and ensure cost accuracy;
  • Meet with competing retailers and identify price and product opportunities;
  • Visit our stores to identify and propose new product opportunities;
  • Find new suppliers by participating in trade shows in Asia;
  • Understand supplier strengths and weaknesses to limit risks;
  • Ensure product quality by supervising samples submitted for approval;
  • Assist in the execution and tracking of purchase orders;
  • Participate in buyer meetings, presentations, and travel with the team if necessary;
  • Anticipate and identify potential obstacles and problems in all aspects of development, cost calculation, and delivery; and
  • Manage the entire product life cycle.

Requirements

  • Degree, DEC, or AEC in procurement, supply chain, or a relevant field;
  • Five (5) years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or product importation in the retail or importation sector;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a strong attention to detail;
  • Good decision-making skills and the ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple competing priorities;
  • The ability to work in a dynamic and high-volume environment;
  • Good communication and collaboration skills and the ability to establish working relationships; and
  • A flexible person willing to travel if necessary.
