Senior Specialist in Application Operations and Release Management

We are seeking a Release Manager to lead, automate, and optimize the comprehensive release process for our applications. This position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the efficient delivery of software updates and new releases, while managing risks and adhering to quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in programming and release management, exceptional project management abilities, and a dedication to enhancing operational processes within an Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee release timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and project schedules. Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to facilitate timely and effective releases. Conduct release readiness assessments, ensuring all parties are informed and prepared for upcoming launches. Create and manage change requests in line with change management protocols, ensuring thorough documentation, approval, and communication to relevant stakeholders. Ensure all releases adhere to regulatory standards, security protocols, and company policies. Act as the primary liaison for all release-related initiatives. Enhance and refine release management methodologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and minimize downtime. Collaborate with teams to implement monitoring and logging solutions that track release performance and reliability, reporting on the release process and identifying improvement opportunities. Identify, document, and mitigate risks and issues related to releases, developing contingency strategies to minimize operational impact. Automate and codify the release process to decrease manual intervention. Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. Streamline repetitive tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability. Promote a collaborative environment, fostering cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing across Agile teams. Instill a sense of end-to-end ownership of products, projects, features, modules, and services throughout the software development lifecycle. Communicate release strategies, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at various levels. Provide 24/7 support as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of development experience. Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity. At least 5 years of professional experience in release management or a similar role within a software development environment. Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration for over 5 years. Experience with Agile development methodologies and frameworks (JIRA, GitHub) for at least 5 years. Comprehensive experience in the software lifecycle, including release planning, time estimation, release processes, software testing, incident management, monitoring, and alerting for a minimum of 5 years. Proficient in release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, JIRA). Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, YAML). Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation). Proficient in cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP). Strong project management skills, including experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, PowerBI). Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Solid understanding of software development methodologies, ISO 27001, and ITIL 4 best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders across various functions. Experience in the fintech or retail sector is a significant advantage.
