Senior Specialist in Application Operations and Release Management

We are seeking a Release Manager to supervise, automate, and optimize the comprehensive release process for our applications. This position entails collaboration with various teams to guarantee the smooth delivery of software updates and new releases, while managing risks and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in programming and release management, exceptional project management capabilities, and a dedication to enhancing operational processes within an Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate and uphold release schedules, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project timelines Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure timely and efficient releases Conduct release readiness assessments, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and prepared for upcoming releases Generate and manage change tickets in compliance with change management protocols, ensuring all modifications are documented, approved, and communicated to relevant parties Ensure all releases meet regulatory requirements, security protocols, and organizational policies Act as the primary contact for all release-related activities Enhance and refine release management processes, tools, and methodologies to boost efficiency and minimize downtime Collaborate with relevant teams to implement monitoring and logging solutions to assess the performance and reliability of releases, reporting on the release process, identifying improvement areas, and executing solutions to enhance efficiencies Identify, document, and mitigate risks and issues related to releases. Develop contingency strategies to address potential challenges and ensure minimal operational disruption Codify and automate the release process to lessen manual intervention Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation Automate repetitive tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability Promote a collaborative atmosphere, fostering cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing across Agile teams Instill end-to-end ownership of products, projects, features, modules, and services delivered by you and your team throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle Communicate release plans, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at various levels Be available to provide support around the clock

Qualifications:

5+ years of development experience Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full-Time Capacity. 5+ years of professional experience in release management or a similar role within a software development environment 5+ years of proficiency in utilizing version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration 5+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies and frameworks (JIRA, GitHub) 5+ years of experience in the software lifecycle, including release planning, time estimation, release processes, software testing, incident and issue management, monitoring & alerting, and related areas Proficiency with release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, JIRA) Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, YAML) Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) Proficiency with Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) Excellent project management skills, including experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, PowerBI) Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines Strong understanding of software development methodologies, ISO 27001, and ITIL 4 best practices Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Demonstrated capability to manage stakeholders across various functions Experience in the fintech or retail sector is a strong advantage
