Job Summary

Light Haul Transport Ltd is seeking a skilled Long Haul Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials across the country, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Route Planning and Execution: Plan and adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, and other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, maintaining open communication with colleagues and dispatchers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure safe and efficient transportation.
  • Emergency Response: Perform emergency roadside repairs and respond to unexpected situations, prioritizing safety and minimizing downtime.
  • Logistics and Administration: Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Cargo Handling and Security: Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo, adhering to regulations and company policies.
  • Specialized Transportation: Transport and handle dangerous goods, following strict protocols and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Will train, with a focus on developing skills and knowledge in transportation and logistics.
  • Work Environment: Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes, making it a green job.
  • Support for Diversity and Inclusion: Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition, providing awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth, Indigenous people, and visible minorities.
  • Work Schedule: Permanent position, working 32 to 40 hours per week.
  • Language: English language proficiency required.
