Job Summary:

The City of Red Deer is seeking a highly skilled Action Bus Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our Transit Operations department, you will be responsible for managing trip bookings, scheduling, and dispatching services for our Action Bus and contracted services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate daily work schedules for Action Bus and backup contracted services.
  • Process and assign trip bookings for registered customers.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with department staff, other city departments, and the public.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Operations Supervisor to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with Trapeze scheduling software and PASS knowledge to ensure efficient operations.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  • One year of related experience in booking, scheduling, and dispatch in a specialized transit environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with department staff, other city departments, and the public.
  • Supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Exposure to persons with physical and cognitive disabilities and seniors is an asset.
  • General knowledge of business office functions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Bilingualism and database knowledge are assets.
  • Good working knowledge of the geographical area of the city.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with up to 80 hours biweekly as scheduled, with no minimum guarantee of hours. Shift work, evening, and weekend work will be required.

Benefits:

The City of Red Deer offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary of $36.60 per hour.
