Transit Operations Coordinator

The Opportunity:

The City of Red Deer is seeking a highly skilled Transit Dispatcher to join their team. As a Transit Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the city's public transportation system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and dispatch transit vehicles to ensure efficient and timely service.
  • Monitor and manage transit schedules, routes, and fares.
  • Communicate effectively with transit operators, passengers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure seamless integration of transit services.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • One year experience as a bus operator or in a related field.
  • Ability to successfully complete training on Trapeze and MAIOR scheduling software.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • General knowledge of business office functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Transit Dispatcher or in a related field.
  • Class 2 Drivers License with Air Endorsement.
  • Ability to successfully complete Corporate Driver Training.

Working Conditions:

Up to 80 hours biweekly, as scheduled. Shift work will include early mornings, dayshifts, evenings, and weekend coverage.

What We Offer:

A competitive hourly rate of $38.27 per hour.
