Job Title: Cottage 1 Youth and Family Counsellor

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Calgary, with a strong presence across Alberta. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Cottage 1 Youth and Family Counsellor.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Management team at Wood's Homes, providing primary support to children, youth, and families on rotating shifts. This role requires a high level of dedication, as the Counsellor will be responsible for delivering high-quality services 24/7, 7 days a week. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional skills in maintaining a structured setting, promoting personal and social development, and ensuring the well-being of clients.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients, promoting their personal and social growth.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, supervisory sessions, and in-service training to ensure best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Provide therapeutic support to clients, including attendance at case conferences, intervention strategies, and consultations with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain the living space of the program, ensuring it meets the requirements of the Licensing Department.
  • Assist with daily tasks, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation of clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Management team.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or Nursing, with a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working with young people is preferred.
  • Proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and own transportation are necessary.
