Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE). As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with autism, in a classroom setting.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology.
  • Support students with medical needs, including tube feeding and seizure management.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those with autism.
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement.
