About the Role

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the Provincial Archives of Alberta. As the head of this esteemed institution, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision to the team, ensuring the effective acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of Alberta's documentary heritage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Provincial Archives' staff team, ensuring the successful implementation of the organization's mandate and goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government partners, community groups, and international archival communities.
  • Oversee the acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of Alberta's documentary heritage, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the Provincial Archives' financial resources, ensuring effective budgeting and financial management.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs and services to promote the use and appreciation of the Provincial Archives' holdings.
  • Collaborate with other government departments and agencies to advance the public profile of the Provincial Archives and promote its services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as archives management, library science, or history.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in archives management, with a proven track record of success in leading teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international archival standards and practices, as well as Alberta's documentary heritage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and financial resources, with a strong understanding of financial management principles.
