Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) to join our Transfer Fleet team at British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BCEHS). As an EMR, you will be responsible for providing patient care and inter-facility transportation by ambulance, utilizing critical thinking and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care and inter-facility transportation by ambulance, using critical thinking and safe work practices.
  • Advocate for patients through effective communication with colleagues, allied health care professionals, and public safety partners.
  • Operate ambulances safely in challenging weather and remote areas.
  • Identify and address complex program or system-wide issues to enhance service delivery and patient care.
Requirements
  • Current EMR license or higher, issued by EMALB.
  • Class 1, 2, or 4 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Current driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Work permit for Canada (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong mental resiliency and maturity, with the ability to function in a dynamic environment.
Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity
  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
