Nurse Practitioner

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our General Surgery team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care, ensuring effective communication with clients and their families.
- Participate in discharge planning, function as a client advocate, and teach clients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.
- Enhance the quality of life of clients and their families, promoting health and well-being.
- Document care provided and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain and advance your own clinical competence, staying up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge and techniques.
- Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
Sechelt Hospital is an acute care facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia, serving over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. The hospital provides a range of services, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies, and imaging services.
Qualifications- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated client group.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement care plans.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
- Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively, including the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through initiative and independence.
- Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment, including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
