Join Black & McDonald's expanding Intelligent Transportation Systems team. The Construction Project Coordinator operates on-site and reports directly to the Division Manager.

The primary responsibilities of the Construction Project Coordinator include planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating assigned projects from inception to completion, adhering to timelines, specifications, and budget constraints. Key focus areas encompass safety, strategic planning, progress monitoring, scheduling, quality assurance, cost management, estimating, reporting, and managing project modifications under the guidance of senior leadership. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Lead assigned projects with a focus on cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract adherence.
  • Define project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in alignment with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, ensuring they are kept informed of pertinent information.
  • Develop, prepare, monitor, and manage construction schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including HSE regulations, company policies, and contract requirements.
  • Track and report on project progress, labor productivity, outcomes, budget, costs, and forecasts.
  • Prepare and submit project estimates and negotiate any necessary changes in scope.
  • Draft contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to agreements with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Review work, contracts, and work-in-progress for potential risks and rectify deficiencies.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are readily available for tradespersons.
  • Complete monthly cost forecasting and checklists accurately and punctually.
  • Ensure weekly productivity reports are compiled accurately.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A background in:

  • Project Management
  • Civil/Transportation Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Construction Management

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Management within a unionized construction environment.
  • Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems or electrical utility projects is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in construction estimation, scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Ability to interpret project designs.
  • Familiarity with established division practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Understanding of business operations processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Intermediate knowledge and understanding of:

Proficient user of:

  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Experience with Accubid is a plus.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system is beneficial.
