Job Title: Child and Youth Counsellor

North York General Hospital is seeking a skilled Child and Youth Counsellor to join our dynamic team in the Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit.

Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate professional to provide direct care to patients and families experiencing acute psychiatric conditions. As a Child and Youth Counsellor, you will develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the child/family and other healthcare team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients and families experiencing acute psychiatric conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the child/family and other healthcare team members
  • Act as a role model and mentor to CYC colleagues and students
  • Participate in quality improvement activities as required
  • Engage in evidence-based practice and initiate changes to improve the quality of CYC interventions as appropriate
Qualifications
  • Certified Child and Youth Counsellor Diploma from a recognized community college
  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field, preferred
  • O.A.C.Y.C. membership, preferred
  • Broad experience in an acute psychiatric setting, preferred
  • Bilingualism in French/English, an asset
