Job Title: Child & Youth Counsellor, Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Child & Youth Counsellor to join our dynamic team in the Child Mental Health Inpatient Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct care to patients and families experiencing acute psychiatric conditions, focusing on social skills, strengths, and development in the context of the family and milieu.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to patients and families, developing and implementing a plan of care in collaboration with the child/family and other healthcare team members.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to CYC colleagues and students, participating in the comprehensive assessment of adolescents with a focus on psychosocial issues, strengths, and functioning in the context of the family and milieu.
  • Collaborate to develop individualized and comprehensive plans of care to achieve mutually agreed-upon goals, participating in quality improvement activities as required.
  • Engage in evidence-based practice, initiating changes to improve the quality of CYC interventions as appropriate, and participating in ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • Certified Child & Youth Counsellor Diploma from a recognized community college.
  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field, preferred.
  • O.A.C.Y.C. membership, preferred.
  • Broad experience in an acute psychiatric setting, preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French/English, an asset.
