About the Role

Cavendish Farms, a leading producer of frozen food products, is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to lead various projects and new equipment installations. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and manage capital projects from preliminary discussions to installation and commissioning, including:
    1. Scope definition and development
    2. Consultant management and coordination
    3. Equipment specifications and procurement
    4. Budget estimation and tender package preparation
    5. Drawing review and schedule development
    6. Procurement and contractor supervision
    7. Commissioning and follow-up
  2. Manage information exchange between operations, maintenance, engineering, and vendors for assigned areas of responsibility.
  3. Ensure that projects are on time and budget.
  4. Determine how automation can be included in the project.
  5. Track project details to ensure milestones and targets are met.
  6. Take project lead of power distribution, automation, controls, instrumentation, networking, and other electrical works.
  7. Provide technical support to maintain existing electrical infrastructure.
  8. Help troubleshoot issues with electrical systems such as power distribution, motor controls, and PLCs.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical or equivalent degree.
  2. Exposure to a food operating plant environment would be an asset.
  3. Understanding of quality and timeline expectations from all work streams.
  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD would be an asset.
  5. Knowledge of the following codes and standards would be an asset:
  6. General Awareness of the Canadian Electrical Code and industrial best practices is an asset.
