About The Opportunity
The Director of Facilities and Capital Projects is accountable for overseeing the Facilities and Capital teams, managing all aspects related to Housing, Community Infrastructure, Energy, Emergency Management, Equipment, and Facilities. In this role, you will manage projects, including contracts, progress tracking, quality assurance, and the overall evaluation of departmental resources in alignment with the strategic plan of ʔaq̓am. Daily responsibilities encompass policy development, human resource management, formal plan administration, and management of funding agreements and contracts.
Your Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Supervising the daily operations of the Facilities and Capital Projects Team, providing leadership and support to a team of professionals.
- Managing the financial aspects of the department, including annual budgeting and financial monitoring.
- Acting as the department liaison with Council, staff, contractors, government agencies, private sector entities, and other First Nation organizations.
- Supporting and overseeing employees' daily activities, distributing tasks based on urgency, required resources, and community needs.
- Managing community assets and infrastructure by employing best practices to ensure alignment with ʔaq̓am's Values, Mission, and Vision while also overseeing community capital initiatives.
More About You
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Management, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar senior-level position, focusing on capital strategic projects and managing operations and infrastructure. Experience in project management, grant writing, and contract administration is essential. A demonstrated understanding of Ktunaxa/Indigenous peoples and culture is considered an asset. We seek a strategic, analytical thinker with a community-focused approach who can prioritize multiple projects with a high degree of ethics, confidentiality, and integrity. A clear Criminal Record check and proof of a clean driver's abstract along with a Valid Class 5 license are required.
Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $111,121, and includes a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan.
