The Opportunity

Our individual underwriting division is seeking innovative, dedicated, and customer-focused professionals to join our elite underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform risk evaluation and categorization in accordance with our company's principles and standards.
  • Engage and collaborate with sales and corporate colleagues to deliver top-notch and competitive solutions to our clients.
  • Foster positive and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Consistently provide exceptional customer service by ensuring every interaction is meaningful.
  • Comply with consumer laws and regulations concerning risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to challenges and processes related to underwriting duties.

What are we seeking?

  • A minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience.
  • Life signing authority of $1,000,000 or more.
  • A sales-oriented mindset with a focus on acquiring and retaining business in a competitive landscape.
  • Progress towards or completion of FALU, FLMI, and ACS designations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, including physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, imaging, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
  • In-depth knowledge of how non-medical risks influence mortality, including hazardous occupations, sports, hobbies, and lifestyle choices.
  • Experience with financial documentation and training in anti-money laundering protocols.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

Additional Skills (not mandatory)

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is advantageous – candidates in specific regions must communicate in both languages to assist clients from various jurisdictions.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus.
  • Authority of $100,000 or more in critical illness.
  • A degree in a relevant field such as medical, research, or finance.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities.
  • Interest in representing the organization at external events, panels, and conferences.
  • Experience in co-signing, referral evaluations, mentoring, etc.
