Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Asset Manager to join our commercial Asset Management team at Emera Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management and performance of our assets, including the development and execution of dispatch strategies, fuel purchasing decisions, and hedging opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial management of merchant power assets in the Northeastern US and Canadian energy markets;
  • Maintain a superior understanding of the northeast power and gas markets with an emphasis on commercial operation of assets under management;
  • Ensure that Emera Energy's contractual obligations are fulfilled and all commercial activities function within governing documents and market rules;
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to manage risk and maximize earnings for assets and Emera Energy;
  • Liaise with asset stakeholders, traders, plant personnel, and system operators to ensure successful operation and execution of strategies;
  • Assess market fundamentals and indicators to support strategic recommendations for facilities under management;
  • Represent the asset's interests through stakeholder engagements and communications with system operators and governing entities;
  • Prepare market-based reports, reconciliations, and analysis associated with generating assets;
  • Support various projects with an emphasis on market research, data collection, and analysis related to northeast power markets;
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve commercial objectives and support business growth.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a Business-related field with a minimum of 5+ years' experience in the energy markets;
  • Strong communication skills, exceptional analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail for problem-solving and independent decision-making in a fast-paced environment;
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with dynamic and adaptable skills to work independently and demonstrate strong relationship and team skills;
  • Superior computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel to create and analyze detailed spreadsheets;
  • Ability to develop code in various languages such as VBA,.NET, JavaScript, etc.
