Job Overview:

The Manager of Commercial Operations is responsible for overseeing commercial collaborations and agreements, the sale of products and services, as well as the marketing and promotion of commercial product lines within Nuclear Operations. This role is pivotal in identifying and assessing commercial and strategic opportunities, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop commercial proposals and evaluate new product introductions. The Manager fosters relationships with partners and clients, negotiating multiyear supply agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management:

Formulates, negotiates, and prices contracts for products, services, and users associated with the McMaster Nuclear Reactor. Reviews client agreements and evaluates risks to ensure successful business opportunities for the McMaster Nuclear Reactor. Drafts terms and conditions of client contracts in collaboration with the McMaster legal department. Negotiates agreements with third-party vendors, including logistical support, provision of essential materials and documents, and facilitation of payment processes.

Customer Relations:

Engages with potential and existing customers to identify new business opportunities. Serves as the primary contact for all inquiries related to commercial products and services. Facilitates the resolution of commercial customer issues with internal partners.

Business and Research Development:

Identifies opportunities for the development of new products or services that could be offered by Nuclear Operations, collaborating with development, research, production, and engineering teams to explore and advance these opportunities. Monitors trends in Research and Development to assess new business prospects. Collaborates with other researchers on campus to enhance value among stakeholders from a Research and Development perspective. Creates marketing and promotional strategies for commercial sectors within the McMaster Nuclear Reactor. Conducts profitability analyses to evaluate the financial viability of new and existing products and services. Develops and implements suitable cost models to optimize revenue generation. Evaluates the diversity of customer and product bases, recommending improvements or changes as necessary.

International Relations:

Researches, corresponds, and meets with potential customers to explore and assess new international business opportunities. Engages with various international foreign affairs departments to cultivate partnerships and facilitate business opportunities.

Financial Oversight:

Prepares monthly reports for the Director detailing the progress and status of various programs under their purview. Identifies government funding opportunities to support the expansion and commercialization of departmental operations.
