Role Responsibilities
The Director, Operations & Strategic Initiatives is a key provincial leadership role reporting to the Managing Director Procurement & System Optimization to work collaboratively with stakeholders in developing short and long-term sourcing plans for major procurement initiatives, participate in contracting initiatives, and provide operational leadership in the development, planning, and execution of the plans to assist in execution.
The Director is accountable for developing, reviewing, integrating, implementing, and evaluating provincial initiatives that impact the Division and all the Branches in terms of planning and executing on their respective plans.
This position also provides leadership to multiple overlapping engagement initiatives for strategic contracting initiatives, projects with significant clinical complexity, and wide stakeholder groups.
- Systems Thinking: The Director needs to have a broader view to consider and integrate multiple factors, such as budget/financial planning perspective in contract approval and procurement planning process.
- Creative Problem Solving: The Director will lead on continuous business process improvement to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of business operations.
- Develop Self and Others: The Director provides constructive and timely feedback to unit staff and supports their personal development plans.
Preference will be given to individuals with the following assets:
- Experience in health care procurement and supply chain
- Experience leading and implementing major projects, including facilitating large group meetings with diverse stakeholders like Physicians, Nursing, Executives, Front Line clinical staff, policy, and decision makers
- Knowledge of clinical products, market strategies, and understanding of the local, national, and global supply chain issues and challenges
- Experience leading a team/supervising
