Position Overview:

The Director of Finance plays a pivotal role in steering the financial governance and management for the organization. This position is integral in directing financial operations, advocating for fiscal accountability, and leading strategic financial planning initiatives. The Director provides high-level fiscal policy guidance and develops comprehensive financial processes and systems that ensure robust fiscal oversight and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Management: Deliver long-term strategic financial advice and analysis concerning revenue and expenditure strategies for the organization. Evaluate the impact of long-term planning and new initiatives from a financial perspective.
  • Budget Development: Lead the creation and compilation of the annual Corporate Plan while monitoring variances and reporting outcomes. Provide financial insights to assist in the development of departmental budgets.
  • Capital Planning: Oversee the capital planning process, ensuring effective financial planning is integrated into asset management lifecycle plans and budgets.
  • Revenue Strategy Development: Formulate revenue strategies and scenarios, considering various options to support essential programs and capital investments.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage a combined annual operating and capital budget exceeding $100 million, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Supervisory Management:

  • Lead the Finance team, providing clarity on objectives and ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Foster a culture of coaching and mentoring within the team to achieve project goals and enhance performance.

Client Relations:

  • Serve as a key director, modeling strategic thinking and analysis to foster continuous growth in fiscal leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity in financial information dissemination.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields, along with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience, including five years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of economic principles, accounting practices, and financial data analysis.
