Position Summary

Registered Nurse, Chemotherapy Day Care
In this role, you will deliver outstanding patient and family-focused care in a nurturing and culturally aware environment. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include assessing, educating, preventing, maintaining, and restoring patient health. Your ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across the organization will be essential as you manage diverse patient conditions throughout their life stages. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to connect effortlessly with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position also supports the hospital's academic mission by promoting care through education and research initiatives. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety policies, fostering a safe environment for all stakeholders.

Responsibilities


• Demonstrate the ability to operate within the full scope of nursing practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

• Employ critical thinking to prioritize and organize work according to patient needs.

• Exhibit knowledge of safe transfer and lifting techniques.

• Commit to ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

• Utilize computer skills proficiently, including MS Word, internet research, data entry, and patient information systems.

• Show self-motivation in pursuing continuing education related to patient assessment and education.

Qualifications


• Diploma in Nursing or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

• Certification in Oncology and Chemotherapy & Biotherapy is required.

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is mandatory.

• Completion of an adult physical assessment course is required.

• A minimum of one year of experience in Oncology/Chemotherapy is preferred.

• At least two years of intravenous experience in adults is preferred.

• Experience in an ambulatory oncology clinic is an asset.

• Bilingualism in French and English is advantageous.
