Job Title: Senior Finance Manager

Department: Transactional Finance

Location: Halifax / Hybrid

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

The Senior Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our organization, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the Group.
    • Compile monthly consolidated financial statements and assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Manage the month-end closing process and maintain the accounts timetable.
    • Address technical financial queries and prepare documentation for audit purposes.
    • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and keep stakeholders informed on financial policies.
    • Deliver comprehensive financial reports to stakeholders as required.
    • Guide the transactional finance team on best practices and regulatory compliance.
  2. Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other necessary regulatory filings.
    • Stay informed about changes in tax legislation and regulations.
    • Support tax planning initiatives and ensure compliance with tax deadlines.
  3. Cash Flow Oversight:
    • Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
    • Develop weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow forecasts for the Group.
    • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions.
    • Enhance the company's cash management strategies.
  4. Compliance and Audit Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the auditing process, focusing on key audit areas.
    • Establish and refine internal controls to mitigate fraud risks and ensure accuracy.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in an accountancy practice is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High integrity and dependability with a strong focus on results.
