Description

As a Professor of Business History at the University of Ottawa, you will be responsible for examining and evaluating the practices of merchants, traders, entrepreneurs, financiers, and mercantilists from the 15th to the 19th century who contributed to the development of global business and commerce. You will highlight the dynamic interplay between markets and their social, technological, political, economic, and cultural context through the analysis and discussion of books, case studies, and other sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach courses on business history, global commerce, and economic development
  • Conduct research and publish papers on topics related to business history and global commerce
  • Advise students on their research projects and provide guidance on academic writing
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide committees and initiatives

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in History or a related field
  • Expertise in business history, global commerce, and economic development
  • Strong teaching and research skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching and research in a university setting
  • Publication record in reputable academic journals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time regular position
  • 39 hours per week
  • Course schedule: Friday, 2:30-5:30 PM
