Economic Analyst / Senior Economic Analyst

Join our team at Natural Resources Canada and contribute to the development of policies and regulations for the minerals and metals industry.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking highly skilled economists to analyze the mining industry and provide strategic insights to government officials. The successful candidates will prepare analysis on mining industry activities and trends, commodity markets, global supply chains, resource security, and environmental impacts. Additionally, they will engage with industry stakeholders, advise government officials on issues relating to the mining industries, and support the development of Government of Canada policies and regulations for the minerals and metals industry.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.
  • Experience conducting economic analysis using large datasets.
  • Experience conducting economic analysis related to the natural resources sector using large datasets.
  • Significant experience conducting economic analysis on complex issues related to the natural resources sector.
  • Significant experience in building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance policy and analysis objectives.
  • Significant experience representing and advancing a corporate position through preparing and delivering briefing materials for senior management.
Other Qualifications

Graduation with a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in a specialization relevant to the position. Experience conducting economic analysis on issues related to the minerals sector.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
