Position Overview

Are you passionate about providing quality nursing care? We are looking for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse who is committed to delivering compassionate care to patients at Northern Health Authority.

Operating within a collaborative clinical environment and adhering to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Standards of Practice, the LPN will engage closely with the healthcare team in various direct care tasks, including patient assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation of interventions, and coordination of health services for patients in the Emergency Department.

The role includes participation in discharge planning, acting as a patient advocate, and educating patients and their families about health conditions and wellness strategies. The LPN is responsible for enhancing the quality of life from the patient's perspective and establishing respectful therapeutic relationships.

Utilizing a team-based approach, the LPN provides care across all age groups, focusing on patients with stable or predictable health conditions by initiating and adhering to established care plans. The LPN is expected to recognize and respond to unexpected patient outcomes by effectively communicating and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Documentation of care provided and responses to incidents must be completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.


Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including Days and Nights, from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program and one year of recent experience in a relevant care setting.

  • Ability to provide nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department, including those with stable and predictable health conditions.
  • Knowledge of common diagnoses and related pathophysiology.
