Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Finning. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar rental equipment, including small engine equipment, construction tools, compact construction equipment, and aerial work platform equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar rental equipment, including small engine equipment, construction tools, compact construction equipment, and aerial work platform equipment
  • Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET as required
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required

Requirements:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
  • Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with construction tools, small engine equipment, aerial work platform equipment and diesel generator 8KW to 200KW would be considered an asset

Work Environment:

This position is located out of our TCRS Fort McMurray branch on a continuous shift, 7x7 shift rotation. A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator. Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement. Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
