Key Responsibilities

As an Intercultural Coordinator at Thompson Rivers University, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with faculty and staff to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning initiatives that promote intercultural understanding and exchange.
  • Providing training and support to TRU staff on interculturalization best practices, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Designing and delivering workshops to enhance the intercultural capacities of students, staff, and faculty, promoting a culture of respect and empathy.
  • Teaching Student Success courses in the Faculty of Student Development, as required, to support students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
  • Engaging in internal and external service activities that benefit the department, the university, and the profession, contributing to the advancement of intercultural education and research.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following qualifications:

  • A PhD or EdD in Education, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field (a Master's degree with relevant work experience will be considered).
  • At least two years of experience working in a post-secondary institution, with a proven track record of mentoring and supporting diverse students.
  • Experience in curriculum development for face-to-face and online delivery, ensuring inclusive and engaging learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct program/course evaluations, providing valuable insights for improvement.
  • Potential for successful engagement in scholarly activity, contributing to the advancement of intercultural education and research.
