Position Overview

The Rail Access Planning Team is spearheading the innovative Rail Access Optimization Initiative and requires Project Coordinators to support the Go Expansion Project Delivery Teams and Supply Chain in enhancing Rail Access Efficiency while minimizing waste.

Key Activities Include:

  • Optimizing rail access.
  • Facilitating bookings of suitable access in line with scheduled activities.
  • Enhancing visibility of planned and reserved works.
  • Assisting with access-specific negotiations.
  • Promoting access innovation aimed at cost reduction and safety enhancement.
  • Providing expertise to maximize available working windows.
  • Supporting the utilization of the Rail access planning tool.
  • Ensuring compliance with access processes, procedures, and standards.

Communicate and exemplify planning best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

The Rail Access Optimization Coordinator is accountable for overseeing the daily operations conducted by project teams and supply chain concerning the booking and utilization of rail access within the framework of the CPG Projects. By conducting Root Cause Analysis on all projects and leveraging data for informed decision-making, the Project Coordinators will formulate necessary action plans to collaboratively optimize project schedules.

This role will also assess the operations executed by the rail corridor access control team and facilitate access utilization enhancement workshops across all CPG entities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting in the development of a clean and precise data source for access utilization.
  • Creating and monitoring Utilization KPIs to drive improvement.
  • Conducting Root Cause Analysis exercises on all C5 Projects.
  • Formulating utilization enhancement plans to be evaluated and tracked using Lean Control room methodologies.
  • Providing assistance with rail corridor access, possession, interface, and deconfliction management.
  • Fostering a collaborative culture between capital works and operations teams, promoting continuous improvement.

Seek enhancements to the existing governance framework to facilitate better decision-making and change management.

Required Technical Competencies

The essential knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for this role include:

  • Proficiency in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies and tools.
  • Exceptional training and facilitation skills with experience in coaching, mentoring, and influencing decision-making processes.
  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certification in an industrial setting with comprehensive knowledge of key business processes.
  • Understanding of access challenges in a railway context.
  • Familiarity with contractual matters in an access environment.
  • Awareness of safety considerations in an operational railway context.
  • Knowledge of access improvement initiatives and the ability to drive these to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience in planning complex, multidisciplinary construction activities within operational corridors.
  • Experience in collaborating with rail access personnel.
  • Familiarity with rail access booking systems.
  • Ability to comprehend various regulations governing strategic access.
