About Us
Niijkiwendidaa Anishnaabekwewag Services Circle (NASC) is a registered charitable organization committed to the development and provision of healing services for Anishnaabekwewag (Indigenous women) and their families who have faced violence or are at risk of violence. Our therapeutic healing initiatives are rooted in Anishnaabe traditions, combined with community-centered and client-focused healing methodologies.

Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is tasked with the effective leadership and management of the organization, aligning with the strategic goals set forth by the Council of Directors. The CEO must establish a visible, supportive, and proactive presence within the community, working closely with and reporting to the Council of Directors.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead the NASC team with intention and enthusiasm, fostering positive relationships within the team, with the Council of Directors, the community, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong, impactful partnerships with community organizations that further our mission and promote lasting community change.
  • Exemplify leadership by coaching and mentoring the team in alignment with our core values and traditional practices.

Human Resources Management

  • Foster a values-driven team environment, ensuring a supportive and safe workplace for all team members, including volunteers, in accordance with legal and policy standards.
  • Oversee a performance management system that assigns and coordinates tasks, ensuring the successful achievement of planned outcomes, including annual performance evaluations for all staff.
  • Manage the organization's human resource needs, including recruitment, professional development, and team cohesion.

Accountability to the Board of Directors

  • Maintain regular, proactive communication with the Council of Directors, including participation in Council meetings.
  • Support the Council by preparing meeting materials, reports, financial documents, and other necessary communications.
  • Assist the Board in achieving effective governance, in compliance with NASC bylaws and relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate with the Council to enhance organizational capacity, strategic direction, and policy development.

Financial Oversight

  • Directly manage all financial operations in accordance with established finance policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Auditor to ensure NASC's engagement in the audit process and compliance with funder requirements.
  • Meet all funding obligations and ensure timely reporting, including budgets, submissions, and annual reports.

Program and Service Management

  • Ensure NASC meets all contractual obligations and service objectives, with required reporting submitted as per agreements.
  • Supervise the development, execution, and evaluation of NASC's services, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision established by the Council of Directors.

Relationship Building

  • Develop and sustain positive business relationships and strategic partnerships that are mutually beneficial and grounded in trust.
  • Create opportunities for community outreach and promote the organization effectively.

Position Requirements

  • Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary degree in business administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior management position.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably within an Indigenous organization.
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Active engagement with the Indigenous community, with a deep understanding of Indigenous culture and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by Indigenous communities.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and forecasting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
