About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Project Director to lead the implementation of the SFU Medical School across Fraser Health. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex projects in a healthcare environment and will be able to provide strategic and operational leadership to the project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, coordination, and implementation of the project across Fraser Health, ensuring timely and effective planning, coordination, integration, and standardization of project deliverables.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the project team, including recommending strategies, policies, and operational changes as necessary.
  • Oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of innovative initiatives and strategies to support the medical school curriculum outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the SFU project teams, Fraser Health corporate support departments, and operational and clinical leadership to plan, direct, coordinate, and implement initiatives to facilitate/advance the implementation of the clinical placement and faculty aspects of the medical school.
  • Manage project budget, risk assessment, and status reporting, including resources for project staff teams.
  • Develop and manage project team/portfolio human resource budgets, lead and manage effective recruitment, training, performance evaluation as per FH policy.
  • Evaluate project-related risks and issues, investigate, resolve, and plan around applicable legal issues and standards with respect to procurement, accreditation, and safety issues.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Health, Business Administration, or related discipline supplemented by certification/designation in PMP (Project Management) and/or PROSCI (Change Management).
  • At least ten (10) years recent experience in a complex healthcare environment, including five (5) years progressive project and/or change management leadership experience.
  • Clinical or operational healthcare experience, and experience in implementing/operating health professions education programs considered an asset.
Professional/Technical Capabilities
  • Expert knowledge of change and project management principles coupled with an in-depth understanding of the healthcare system at both the strategic and operational levels.
  • Demonstrated experience using structured methodologies including milestone planning and budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks and issues in an efficient and effective manner.
