Job Title: Pediatric Surgeon

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Surgeon to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pediatric surgical services.

Job Summary:
  • Work Term: Permanent

  • Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry
  • Experience: 5 years or more

As a Pediatric Surgeon, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who share your passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
  • Supervise surgical procedures
  • Treat diseases, injuries and deformities
  • Prepare research papers for publication and presentation
  • Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases
  • Supervise laboratory activities
  • Act as consultants to other physicians
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
Supervision:

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication. As a Pediatric Surgeon, you will be responsible for supervising working groups and contributing to the development of our surgical services.

Certificates, Licenses, Memberships, and Courses:
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
Specialization in Clinical Medicine:

You will have the opportunity to specialize in pediatrics and contribute to the development of our pediatric surgical services.

Specialization in Surgery:

You will have the opportunity to specialize in general surgery and thoracic surgery.Security and Safety:

You will be required to undergo a criminal record check, child abuse registry check, medical exam, and immunization records. You will also be eligible for professional liability insurance.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

You will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and physically demanding tasks. You will require excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.

Personal Suitability:

We are looking for a candidate who is accurate, client-focused, dependable, efficient, and has excellent oral and written communication skills. You will also require flexibility, initiative, interpersonal awareness, judgement, and reliability.
