Program Supervisor - Youth Hubs

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Supervisor to lead our Youth Hubs program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and executing specialized youth programming at the Youth Hub location "Our Place" at Ajax High School.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with registered youth participants.
  • Assist with oversight, planning, organization, and leadership of all youth hub activities.
  • Support staff team members in the facilitation of general daily programming and/or events.
  • Employ varied methods of consultation to determine areas of participant interest and programming needs.
  • Float through space to monitor, provide direction, and address any issues surrounding team members' performance, volunteer engagement, participant interactions, and safety.
  • Work to build a culture of engagement and respect, creating a sense of pride and connection within the Youth Hub.
  • Enforce behavior criteria; provide information on the Youth Hub's policies and practices as needed.
  • Maintain the tidiness of the on-site office workstation and associated spaces and manage care of equipment, maintaining accurate inventory.
  • Take appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems, emergencies as outlined in the Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks necessary to support the Program Director - Youth Hubs, including but not limited to: distributing staff shift placements, incident reports, summary reports, damage reports, worker injury report, and communication logs.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the recreation field working with youth and youth programs.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs and youth services.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
  • Willingness to obtain Behavior Management Systems certification.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Public relations skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership resource knowledge and programming skills.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months).
What We Offer:
  • Rate of Pay: $21.42 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week. The hours of work are Monday - Friday, onsite from 2:30pm-6:15pm and various daytime office hours.
