The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Program Supervisor to join our team at the Youth Hub location "Our Place" at Ajax High School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing specialized youth programming that enhances and complements the daily programming created by the staff team. This includes developing and maintaining relationships with registered youth participants, assisting with oversight and planning of all youth hub activities, and providing on-site staff mentorship and training to program leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with registered youth participants.
  • Assists with oversight, planning, organization and leadership of all youth hub activities.
  • Supports staff team members in the facilitation of general daily programming and/or events.
  • Employs varied methods of consultation to determine areas of participant interest and programming needs.
  • Floats through space to monitor, provide direction, and address any issues surrounding team members' performance, volunteer engagement, participant interactions and safety, programming, and equipment use.
  • Works to build a culture of engagement and respect, creating a sense of pride and connection within the Youth Hub.
  • Enforces behaviour criteria; providing information on the Youth Hub's policies and practices as needed.
  • Maintains the tidiness of the on-site office workstation and associated spaces and manage care of equipment, maintaining accurate inventory.
  • Takes appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems, emergencies as outlined in the Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks necessary to support the Program Director – Youth Hubs including but not limited to: Distributing staff shift placements, incident reports, summary reports, damage reports, worker injury report, and communication logs.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the recreation field working with youth and youth programs.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs and youth services.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
  • Willingness to obtain Behaviour Management Systems certification.
  • Excellent organization, time management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Public relations skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership resource knowledge and programming skills.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months).

What We Offer:

  • Rate of Pay: $21.42 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week. The hours of work are Monday – Friday, onsite from 2:30pm-6:15pm and various day time office hours.
