Job Title: Substance Use Clinician

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Use Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health, specifically to work with the South Asian community. As a clinician, you will provide client-centered care through a trauma-informed approach and evidence-informed practice to individuals and families affected by acute/episodic mental illness and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform initial screening of referrals to determine appropriate treatment based on client needs and best practices.
  • Assess client needs by gathering information and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to determine the best approach to care.
  • Provide first-level intervention and support until formal treatment or further assessment can be conducted.
  • Develop and implement recovery-oriented treatment options and plans through collaboration with clients and natural supports.
  • Facilitate client utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs.
  • Provide referrals to community treatment alternatives and services, including residential programs and vocational programs.
  • Provide education to clients and families on mental health and substance abuse issues, the recovery process, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Maintain client records and carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work.
  • Two (2) years' recent related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant/applicable professional association.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
Language Requirements:

Ability to communicate effectively in Punjabi/Hindi and English, both verbally and in writing.
