Job Title: Vice-President, Academic and Provost

OCAD University is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next Vice-President, Academic and Provost. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished academic leader to shape the future of Canada's largest and oldest public art and design university.

About the Role

The Vice-President, Academic and Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University, responsible for upholding academic standards, championing excellence and innovation in programming, scholarship, and service to the community, and advocating for inclusive excellence. The successful candidate will lead the quality assurance process for all academic programs, provide leadership and direction to the Faculties of Art, Design, and Arts & Science, and oversee faculty affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold academic standards and champion excellence and innovation in programming, scholarship, and service to the community
  • Advocate for inclusive excellence and lead the quality assurance process for all academic programs
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Faculties of Art, Design, and Arts & Science
  • Oversee faculty affairs and serve as Vice-Chair of the University Senate
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an innovative, collegial, and transparent leader with significant educational leadership experience and a track record of advancing academic excellence in a complex setting. A PhD in a relevant discipline is desirable, or a terminal degree in visual art, design or MBA, as is a record of teaching practice, research, research/creation, or professional practice accomplishments. The Vice-President, Academic and Provost must be eligible for appointment with tenure to the senior ranks.
