About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Bridge Design Engineer to join our team at COWI A/S. As a key member of our Structures department, you will be responsible for leading the design and project management of bridge projects, ensuring that they meet or exceed project standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and project management of bridge projects, incorporating project design requirements, design codes, and project-specific contract requirements.
  • Research and review design options for technical, financial, and sustainability feasibility, ensuring alignment with COWI's driving principles.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, and monitor project progress, overseeing project status meetings and preparing progress reports.
  • Coordinate with the CAD team to prepare drawing packages and BIM models, and prepare engineering reports.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders to meet project needs.
  • Prepare tender packages, including technical specifications, special provisions, bill of materials, and record drawings.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of related experience in Bridge Design and Project Management, and registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • High technical abilities and experience in the design and construction of bridges, working with modern bridge design codes.
  • Experience with a wide range of structure types, including steel, precast, and cast-in-place girder bridges, slab bridges, box structures, timber, retaining walls, and culverts.
  • Proficiency in engineering software, including Excel, Mathcad, CSiBridge, MIDAS, SoFiSTiK, or similar.
  • Experience with preparing proposals and leading business development activities.
