The role involves evaluating the underwriting risks associated with both new and existing insurance applications for BMO Life Assurance policies. This includes assessing financial, medical, and market risks in accordance with the company's underwriting principles and guidelines.   • Participates in the design and management of core business processes.
  • Follows established underwriting principles to assess risks for new business applications and policy changes.
  • Identifies and submits facultative reinsurance as needed.
  • Determines appropriate rating and negotiates reinsurance agreements when necessary.
  • Prepares documentation and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains strong relationships with reinsurers for case management.
  • Reviews special underwriting requests and negotiates terms within authority limits.
  • Operates at an enterprise-wide level, serving as a specialist resource for senior leaders.
  • Applies expertise to creatively address complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Implements changes in response to evolving trends.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert knowledge of insurance products, contracts, and benefit plans.
  • ALU II – working towards F.A.L.U.
  • Seasoned professional with a blend of education, experience, and industry knowledge.
  • Proficiency in English is required; bilingualism (French/English) is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced influence and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross-group teamwork.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity effectively.
  • Data-driven decision-making expertise.

Salary: $78, $145,600.00

Pay Type: Salaried
