Position Overview

Instrument Aide, Surgery (Central Supply Unit)
In this vital role, you will be responsible for the reprocessing of medical and surgical instruments, preparing cases for Operating Room procedures, and assembling inhalation equipment. This position requires flexibility as assignments may occur at various sites. You will utilize your strong interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively manage your workload, following both written and verbal instructions with confidence. Your self-motivation and direction will contribute to our academic mission of enhancing care through education and innovation. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in upholding health and safety policies, ensuring a secure environment for all staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate specialized equipment, including autoclaves and cartwash systems.
  • Transport and organize instrumentation and supplies, ensuring proper storage of unused items.
  • Adhere to safety protocols in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Community College certificate in Sterile Supply Processing.
  • Experience and certification in Endoscopy/Olympus is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a CSR Instrument Aide or equivalent is required.
  • MDRD certification is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is a valuable asset.

This position is a Full-Time Permanent role with 8-hour shifts, encompassing all shifts including Days, Evenings, Weekends, Nights, and On-Call in the Central Supply CSR/MDRD Surgery Unit. A competitive total compensation package is available, which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to participate in the Hospital Pension Plan.
