Key Responsibilities- Financial Management: Oversee all phases of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Accounting Framework: Establish and maintain a structured internal accounting framework, ensuring it meets the needs of the company and is communicated effectively to stakeholders.
- Payroll Management: Oversee and lead the payroll process, providing guidance and direction to department leaders to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Manage and record accounts receivable, including order confirmations, invoicing, letters-of-credit filing, and proforma shipping invoices.
- Currency Management: Understand, manage, disperse, and receive funds in multiple currencies.
- Expense and Labour Distribution: Distribute expenses and labour against projects, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports and summaries of accounting activities, including cash flow, bank position, and project financials.
- Transaction Verification: Verify recorded transactions and report irregularities to senior management.
- Month-End Closing: Create month-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Inventory Management: Coordinate inventory counts at all locations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with consolidated budgeting and forecasting process.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Management Reporting: Provide management reports for Operations and Finance Directors.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze actual results vs budget and forecast.
- Accounting System Improvement: Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain rigorous internal controls.
- Consolidated Financial Statements: Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including related notes.
- Annual Audit Files: Prepare annual audit files, working papers, and non-consolidated statutory financial statements for preparation by the company's tax accounting firm.
- Relationship Building: Develop and foster positive relationships, both internally and externally.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with well-developed time-management skills and processes for managing multiple priorities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
- Analytical Skills: Analytical and strong binary arithmetic mind.
- Technical Skills: Experienced with Sage50 Accounting Software, Advanced Excel Skills, and proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, and Excel).
- Education: Diploma or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of general accounting experience.
- Designation: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Language Proficiency: Intermediate proficiency in oral and written French is an asset.
- Salary: Competitive salary based on experience ($87,000 to $93,000).
