Youth Support Facilitator

- Provide guidance and assistance to young individuals in setting and reaching their personal objectives.
- Instruct and motivate youth in essential life skills, including communication, emotional resilience, problem-solving, household management, and financial literacy.
- Oversee and engage in activities that foster social, emotional, and physical growth, enhancing self-esteem and personal achievements.
- Ensure the fulfillment of basic needs, including personal care and the development of life and social skills.
- Perform daily operational tasks at the facility, which may involve cleaning, laundry, or supporting youth in completing these responsibilities.
- Transport youth to educational institutions, medical appointments, recreational events, and community resources.
- Design, implement, and facilitate culturally relevant programs, services, and activities that encourage youth engagement in their cultural heritage.
- Participate in the formulation, execution, and assessment of individualized service plans and specific program policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Educational background in Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in youth programming, group home settings, supported independent living, or childcare.
- Preference will be given to First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous candidates in accordance with the CHRC Aboriginal Employment Policy.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record, along with personal car insurance (minimum of 2 million in third-party liability).
- Ability to manage crisis situations effectively to ensure the safety of youth in care.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Training in Suicide Intervention, Self-Harm, Crisis Intervention, and Medication Administration.
- Awareness of Aboriginal culture and diversity training.
- Capability to adhere to the policies and procedures of Spirit of Our Youth Homes Inc. and comply with the Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
- Familiarity with the standards set by the Canadian Accreditation Council of Human Services.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
