Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Stefanini Group is seeking a highly skilled Packaging Engineer to join our team in Toronto, ON CAN (Onsite).

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Packaging Engineer to lead Research, Development & Quality activities to complete packaging design and packaging deployment for innovation/growth projects and productivity/cost-saving projects across multiple geographies with an emphasis on delivering the desired consumer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate technical work for projects in line with Research, Development & Quality, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks.
  • Determine appropriate packaging specification information using sampling and supplier management and pilot-plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements.
  • Develop activities such as packaging design and specifications, scale up, commissioning, etc., and plan for the effective use of resources including the use of external agencies and suppliers.
  • Ensure that packaging specifications are determined with excellence using your understanding of equipment design and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and influence decisions based on conclusions derived from the analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Develop and leverage connections both internally and with the external technical community.
  • Create intellectual property to drive competitive advantage.
  • Lead a variety of projects focused on sustainability, innovation, and quality of packaging (plastics, cartons, corrugated materials).
Requirements:
  • Desire to drive your future and accelerate your career.
  • Experience and knowledge in packaging development and/or packaging deployment, ideally within fast moving consumer goods or consumer packaging goods environment.
  • Good understanding of packaging material technologies with proven record of technical deliverables - minimum of 5 years in packaging field (preferred).

  • Prefer food industry experience or product development experience within food industry.
  • Candidates with SAP & PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) experience are preferred.
  • Planning and delivering multiple priorities.
  • Proactively identifying complex technical or business problems and creating and implementing solutions.
  • Influencing senior and cross-functional stakeholders verbally and in writing, including writing technical reports.

Listed salary ranges may vary based on experience, qualifications, and local market. Also, some positions may include bonuses or other incentives.
