We are currently seeking a Setup Technician/Operator for our Thornmount facility in Scarborough. The ideal candidate will be flexible to work all shifts and possess a strong mechanical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines;
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products;
  • Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to product size or processing angle;
  • Regulate machine flow or speed;
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor;
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material;
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment;
  • Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on packaging lines as scheduled;
  • Repair areas in the facility as required;
  • Train Packaging Equipment Operators;
  • Assist with production on lines as needed;
  • Able to source and order parts through online maintenance programs;
  • Other duties as assigned;
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging;
  • Engineering/Technical Education background;
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset;
  • Experience with high-speed packaging equipment (e.g., Bartelt and food scales (Ishida));
  • Licensed Millwright not required;
Competencies:
  • Mechanically inclined;
  • Technical mindset;
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Microsoft Office Suite of Products;
