Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Android Software Engineer Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and contribute to the development of our mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mobile App Development: Design, develop, and test mobile features, prototypes, or proof-of-concepts for our Android applications.
  • Requirements Gathering: Gather functional requirements, develop technical specifications, and plan projects and tests.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to quality best practices, including peer reviews of estimates, design, and code.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate technical documentation to communicate architectural and design options, and educate development teams and business users.
  • Project Management: Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • A graduation date of no earlier than 4 months after the internship/co-op concludes.
  • Not require sponsorship to work within the role now or in the future.
  • Available to work 2 days per week in our Toronto office (hybrid schedule).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong familiarity with the Android ecosystem for development, testing, debugging, and performance benchmarking.
  • Strong coding skills in Java/Kotlin, coupled with strong knowledge in object-oriented design and microservices architecture.
  • Passion for quality practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated regression.
  • Excellent grasp of OOP.
  • Experience with SOAP & REST API.
  • Experience with SQL Lite and other databases.
  • Knowledgeable about MVC and MVVM architecture.
  • Experience with GIT.
  • Experience with publishing apps.
  • Experience with UI development.
  • Experience using TurboTax and passion for innovating and improving the customer experience.
  • A degree in a computer science or related field.
