As the Director of Investment Portfolio Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall performance of the Retail Deposits portfolio across Canada. Your contributions will ensure that our business strategies, plans, and initiatives align with regulatory standards, internal policies, and operational procedures. You will be tasked with the critical analysis of market and business data to inform strategic decisions, identify trends in liquidity management, and understand client behaviors, all aimed at uncovering growth opportunities for deposits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver actionable insights for managing portfolio volume and margin, employing a quantitative and data-centric methodology for new initiatives.
  2. Continuously monitor and evaluate portfolio trends, providing timely insights that are essential for achieving the annual growth objectives of Retail Savings.
  3. Lead or assist in strategic projects and ad-hoc assignments related to Retail Deposits & Investments, collaborating with various stakeholders including business lines, finance, analytics, and external partners.
  4. Oversee routine portfolio performance assessments, including weekly and monthly results, forecasting, and annual planning in conjunction with Product and Finance teams.
  5. Collaborate with Product teams to manage the strategy for rate adjustments in response to changes in the Bank of Canada rates.
  6. Analyze competitor offerings to ensure optimal positioning of Retail Savings and Retail Deposits.
  7. Support business management decisions by providing timely and actionable analyses of both financial and non-financial results and trends.
  8. Conduct post-implementation reviews and track the performance of key initiatives, measuring success against established project KPIs.
  9. Integrate the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture into daily operations and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in commerce/business, economics, finance, or analytics.
  2. Relevant experience in the Financial Services sector, including a minimum of one year utilizing Python for data processing and Machine Learning Models.
  3. Familiarity with SAS and/or SQL is advantageous.
  4. Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint.
  5. Experience with data visualization tools, particularly Power BI, is a plus.
  6. Background in product P&L management, Finance, and/or Business Analytics is highly desirable.
  7. Strong understanding of the retail deposits and investments landscape, including products, services, and processes.
  8. Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  9. Proven project management capabilities to prioritize and implement multiple initiatives effectively.
  10. Exceptional time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
