Hospitalist Department Head

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospitalist Department Head to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational planning and service leadership for the Zone Medical Department.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative leadership and oversight for the department, including holding regular department meetings and providing meeting minutes to the Zone Medical Executive Director.
- Work collaboratively with Hospitalist Site Leads, Medical Site Leads, and operational leadership to ensure service continuity and meet key patient flow objectives.
- Participate in the Zone Medical Advisory Committee, advising on quality of care, teaching and research responsibilities, and department objectives.
- Develop and implement a plan to improve access and flow for the zone, including community hospitals and cross-facility transfers.
- Ensure the maintenance and enforcement of professional standards within the department and implement quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Address and resolve medical staff issues, including respectful workplace and interpersonal matters.
- Attend relevant committee meetings and provide co-leadership for strategic and operational planning and budgeting.
- Monitor the performance and effectiveness of medical staff members and provide performance management as needed.
- Coordinate medical students and residents in the Zone and support the research agenda within the department.
- MD, licensable in Nova Scotia
- 3-5 years' experience as a medical department member with experience engaging, mentoring, and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative manner
