Job Summary:

The Client Care Supervisor is a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who oversees the overall client care and service on their shift, ensuring accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation, and emergency calls. This role coordinates the day-to-day operations at the residence and supervises team members, including Personal Support Workers (PSWs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Client Care: Directly supervise the care of clients and unionized staff, ensuring proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
  • Liaise with Healthcare Providers: Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers regarding client care.
  • Client Feedback and Updates: Provide regular input and feedback on clients to the Client Services Manager and keep individuals in the circle of care aware of changes in the client's condition.
  • Care Plan Development: Assist in developing comprehensive care plans and responsible for regular updates to the client care plan.
  • Medication Management: Oversee the medications for each client, including ordering, verifying, and distributing weekly medications, and maintaining medication records.
  • Staff Training and Supervision: Provide training to SPRINT Senior Care staff on delegated acts and supervise staff for appropriate medication procedures.
  • Client Transfers and On-Call Services: Assist with client transfers to and from the hospital, ensuring all information is communicated within required timeframes, and provide on-call services regularly and as required.
  • Quality and Risk Management: Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality and risk management activities of the department and agency.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate as an active member of the Department, Leadership, Accreditation, and Inter-disciplinary Teams.
Qualifications:
  • R.P.N. Registration: Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Gerontology Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working in gerontology and/or community settings.
  • Supervisory Experience: Strong supervisory skills, with 2-4 years of supervisory experience within a unionized setting.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish a good rapport with staff, clients, families, and referral sources in a multicultural setting.
  • Cultural Competence: Sensitive to the cultural needs of clients from various ethnic groups.
  • Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills: Self-directed, results-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment, with excellent organizational, facilitation, conceptual, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer Skills: Demonstrates computer skills at an intermediate or higher level for the use of the Internet and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Database Knowledge: Demonstrates an intermediate level for database concepts and structures, with familiarity with the Alaya Care database an asset.
