- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative support.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs, preferences, and medical requirements.
- Administer medications, perform procedures, and utilize medical equipment as required, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, identifying potential risks and complications, and taking proactive measures to mitigate them.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and policies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
- PALS Certification preferred at time of hire and ongoing.
- Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience required.
- Recent PACU nursing experience required.
- Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
- Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred.
- Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
- Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
- Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias.
- Strong patient assessment skills essential.
- Must possess excellent decision-making & critical thinking skills.
- Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Caring attitude with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
