About the Role

The Health Program Clerical Support is a vital member of our team at Southlake Regional Health Centre, working closely with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care. As a key support staff, you will be responsible for reception, patient scheduling, word processing, and clerical functions, reporting directly to the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient appointments and perform clerical duties under the direction of nursing staff and physicians.
  • Act as a receptionist, communicating with patients via phone and in person.
  • Utilize medical electronic health record systems and computerized provider/physician order entry (CPOE) to support patient care.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and teamwork, ensuring an exceptional experience for patients and families.
  • Model behavior aligned with the values of Southlake Regional Health Centre, including compassion, the power of many, serving with purpose, and valuing every voice.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of clerical duties in an acute care healthcare environment.
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and skill in the use of medical electronic health record systems.
  • Current experience in computerized provider/physician order entry (CPOE) is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in relation to knowledge of hospital operations.
  • Effective organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate required.
  • Diploma in Medical Office Administration or evidence of relevant and related post-secondary diploma from an accredited academic institution is preferred.
